This is a really catchy album of synth-based, electronic funkiness from Stones Throw Records. J.P. is apparently a guy who started out as an intern at the label before becoming a part of the catalog. He's created a bunch of high energy jams with serious hooks and grooves. You definitely notice a Prince influence here, along with 1970's disco/funk in general. At times it may come across as a bit over the top, but I think that is the charm of it. I try to avoid using the word "fun" to describe music, but I think that label definitely applies here. Check it out and play it loud. Enjoy!

At first I had complaints. The beats are too repetitive, like a simple electronic tune. Not really worth remembering but then I found it wasn't trying to impress, but rather indulge the listener.
It made me think of a 80's break dance group. A song that someone could dance to [like the robot for example].
That's what it amounted to but I think it's clear that was the goal. Background music, it's not the full experience only a part of something [like a dance show (like I mentioned above)].
In this case it became more enjoyable when I imagine that kind of dance off scenario in my head.
