Sympathy Nervous is the electronic project of Japanese artist Yosihumi Niinuma. His sound is spot on intelligent electronics with minimal synth. Simply outstanding sounds from Japan in the 80's. Highly recommended.

When the Tsunami washed away the coast of Japan last March 2011, Niinuma-San lost everything: an entire lifetime of recordings, instruments, hand built sequencers, and even his home. Fortunately, prior to the disaster, he had sent the record label Minimal Wave audio masters for an album called Automaticism which features songs Niinuma-San recorded between 1979-1981. It's an excellent album that has some really amazing guitar and electronics. Most were originally slated for a cassette release but never saw the light of day until now. R.I.P. Johnny Otis (December 28, 1921 – January 17, 2012)

The Bay Area's own Johnny Otis sadly passed away earlier this week. Commonly referred to as the "Godfather of Rhythm and Blues" Otis was a huge asset to the music community. He was a singer, musician, talent scout, disc jockey, composer and an arranger just to name a few of the roles he played in the business. This music is special and even though I am too young to have experienced it in it's heyday, it still holds a special place in my heart as I have been obsessed with these kinds of oldies since I was a kid. This is a great place to start if you are new to Johnny Otis. Download it now and enjoy it!!

My original post of this got wonky and the link was fucked up somehow.... and since this is such an amazing album I thought it worthy of a re-post tonight. The first three tracks are instrumental and have an ambient vibe with full on looped Frippertronics guitar creating the mood. Then you get to the last two tracks, my favorite of them all. "Under Heavy Manners" which features a frenetic David Byrne on vocals has kind of a no-wave feel to it and the last track "The Zero of the Signified" which is a driving kraut-like disco rocker. If you don't already have this it's a must. Highly highly recommended!

From Wikipedia: "The album largely consists of Frippertronics, overlaid notes on distorted guitar fed through a very long delay building up a heavily layered effect, much of the work being performed by improvisation. On this album, the effect was modified in what Fripp described as "Discotronics", adding a solid drum beat to create a dancier sound. The guitar loops for the five tracks were recorded live in concert during 1979, with drum and bass parts added later that year by Buster Jones (bass) and Paul Duskin (drums)."

Gender is a traditional Balinese and Indonesian ten brass-bar metallophone with bamboo echo chambers under the bars, an instrument which normally forms part of a larger gamelan orchestra. Gender is more rarely played as a duet of two instruments with the two players sitting face-to-face. That is the case here: these are two music lessons (tracks 1-8, 9-13) of master and pupil as a duet.

This was taken sometime during the middle of the night when my little 2 month old daughter wouldn't fall back asleep after feeding.You can tell from the huge bags underneath my eyes that I am a walking zombie, totally under slept... so this is the reason why the blog has been suffering and it's the best reason in the world, can't think of a better one. To be honest, I'd rather be up in the middle of the night with her in my arms than making blog posts! Anyway, she is starting to get into more of a steady sleep pattern these days so it's going to be easier to get some posts together. Be patient blog followers, new posts will be coming soon!

Crystal Hell Pool's Domain is a new offering from the incredibly solid Debacle Records from Seattle. This album is a groovy, synth-based zoner that pulsates menacing rhythms and beats with sort of a Giorgio Moroder vibe. CHP's sound is heavy and a bit dark. Fans of Suicide and Umberto will definitely dig this. Recommended. Check it out!

James Pants - Welcome [2008]

This is a really catchy album of synth-based, electronic funkiness from Stones Throw Records. J.P. is apparently a guy who started out as an intern at the label before becoming a part of the catalog. He's created a bunch of high energy jams with serious hooks and grooves. You definitely notice a Prince influence here, along with 1970's disco/funk in general. At times it may come across as a bit over the top, but I think that is the charm of it. I try to avoid using the word "fun" to describe music, but I think that label definitely applies here. Check it out and play it loud. Enjoy!

They've opened for Royal Baths, X-ray Eyeballs, The Boom Bang, Easter Vomit, and Queening. Their first EP, recorded on an old 4 track, straddles the line between fuzzed out blues and punk.

Achim Reichel needs no introduction to you kraut heads out there. For those unfamiliar, A.R. was the frontman for the 1960's beat group The Rattles before going off on his own and starting the psychedelic and wonderful A. R. & Machines who released a number of excellent albums throughout the 70's and 80's. Echo, an outstanding double album released in 1972 fully showcases his outstanding guitar playing and compositon. Klaus Shulze is even credited with contributing some vocals! Highly highly recommended.

Apologies for the lack of posting as of late, having a newborn baby at home consumes all of my free time when I am not at work. Though I'm not complaining, she is beautiful and we are so happy to be first time parents. It just means that the blog has to take a back seat for a while...

This YLT tour reminds me of the first time I saw Elvis Costello back in 1987 when he was on the "Almost Alone" tour with Nick Lowe and he also had a wheel of songs. It was good fun as he invited audience members on to the stage to spin the wheel and have a drink at the mock bar they had set up. Anyway, back to YLT... I have not had the pleasure to catch any of these wheel shows to my dismay, and judging by this recording they are pretty damn good. Their set at the Matador Records 21st anniversary celebration in Las Vegas last year was one the top highlights of the weekend, second only to the Guided By Voices classic line-up reunion. The sound quality of this recording is superb as is the set list. Highly highly recommended, enjoy!

The good folks over at Already Dead Tapes sent me a bunch of their new releases to share with you. If you are unfamiliar, ADT is a cassette label run by Joshua Tabbia and Sean Hartman who release in small editions.

The legendary SCG, how they are missed... this spectacular collection of tunes were recorded during the ‘Torch of the Mystics’ sessions in July of 1988. Many people refer to Torch of the Mystics as being their most highly regarded album, but I prefer this collection of tracks instead. This one includes 3 unreleased tracks and one extended track. Joseph Nechvatal is an author who teaches at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in NYC and has just written this very interesting book Immersion Into Noise which is being published by Open Humanities Press. At first I thought this was a book about noise related to music, after all it was sent here to KYC where I have posted quite a bit of music that some might consider to be "noise". But it is actually an investigation into the "multiple aspects of cultural noise, applying the audio understanding of noise to the visual, architectural and cognitive domains. Immersion Into Noise is intended as a conceptual handbook useful for the development of a personal-political-visionary art of noise."

With all that is going on with the Occupy Wall Street protests, and the noise that is being made across the country, I thought it would be fitting to give this book some attention. Open Humanities Press in conjunction with the University of Michigan Library's Scholarly Publishing Office is doing a proper publicity campaign soon to coincide with the release of the printed book and the downloadable e-book versions.

Daniel Klag - Weird Fiction [2011]

Daniel Klag is an ambient musician based in NYC. His latest release "Weird Fiction" came out in June on AMDISCS as a limited-edition 180-gram 2-color vinyl LP. It's a cool psychedelic ambient journey that keeps you guessing with each track as the album goes on. The press release says that this is his "most comprehensive work to date" filled with "ambientscapes and slow motion transitions above pinnacles of enlightement". Well said. Check this one out!

This limited edition, cassette release from Digitalis is filled with rich and lush synth soundscapes with a slight kosmische vibe, retro sounding electronics and melodies that are matched with some soft and spacy beats. Ultravox! - Ha!-Ha!-Ha! [1977]

In 1977, Ultravox! were more of a post-punk band led by singer/songwriter John Foxx. This is their fantastic second album produced by Steve Lillywhite.
They eventually dropped the exclamation mark from their name and John Foxx was replaced by Midge Ure who brought the band to great new wave success with "Vienna" (which I also think is great).

Garnet Mimms - The Ultimate Collection (1958-67)

Garnet Mimms is a very under appreciated and relatively unknown R&B/Soul singer, though he had a huge hit in 1963 with "Cry Baby" which sold over a million copies. As the british invasion quickly took over the american music charts, he never again reached that level of success. He was brought up in Philadelphia singing in church and performing with other Philadelphia-based gospel groups. He's got a very passionate vocal style and you can clearly hear the gospel influence. At times he reminds me of a grittier Sam Cooke. This is an excellent collection of tunes that doesn't disappoint from beginning to end. I can't remember where I downloaded this from originally, but track 18 is missing. I haven't been able to find another copy to grab that missing track, but there are 28 tracks here for your listening pleasure. Highly recommended!

Kill Kill Kill - From Beyond the Agave EP [2011]

Kill Kill Kill are a Los Angeles based band who play some seriously high quality psychedelic rock. This EP is an absolute stunner, only four songs and they are all great. They also just recorded a collaboration with japanese psych legends Acid Mothers Temple which should be coming out on the White Noise label. Any band that jams with AMT is ok in my book!

Highly recommended!

This is an amazing 3 disc collection of rarities from Tompkins Square:

"Get ready for fiery sanctified soul, heavy Pentecostal jams, drum machine gospel, slow-burning moaners, glorified guitar sermons and righteously ragged a cappela hymns! The music on this compilation was originally released on small label 45s, mostly in the 1960s and ’70s. At least one-third of the records were self-released, paid for by a church congregation or the artists themselves. Others were on regional labels (typically run by one single producer) little known today outside of a small circle of collectors. This vibrant music is incredibly honest and almost criminally unknown."

Highly recommended!

" The Emeralds " formed as a vocal harmony group in Little Rock, Arkansas in the early-mid 60's before moving to Detroit in 1968 and changing their name to the Detroit Emeralds. This is an outstanding, groovy, R & B album. It kind of reminds me of a funkier version of the Four Tops (without the baritone) with a little Curtis Mayfield thrown in. I am sure you'll recognize the guitar lick from the excellent track Baby Let Me Take You which has been sampled many times over by hip hop dj's ... Highly recommended!!

A couple of new gems from Toronto's Hollow Island have come in. Aramchek is an e.p. and Hollow Island is his self titled album. The e.p is more guitar based and psych-drony while the album veers into more of an electronic realm. In his own words: "If Aramchek sounded like a guitarkestra of ghosts conjuring the memories of their ancestors, then this is what their ancestors listened to while rain beat the streetcar that carried them from one party to another when it should have carried them home." They are both really good, I especially dig the e.p. - Recommended!

Death - Spiritual Mental Physical [1974-1976]

Death was a proto-punk trio from Detroit in the early 1970's. They recorded and released a 7" and an EP (both of which were largely overlooked) before they broke up in 1977 and moved to Burlington, VT where they eventually formed the reggae band Lambsbread. Spiritual-Mental-Physical are the original "reel-to-reel" demo recordings from 1974-1976 - raw, loud and fast, and awesome. In 2009, Drag City released all of the recorded tracks as one long player called For The Whole World To See (you can find my post of that album HERE). These guys were definitely ahead of their time, it's a shame that they did not get any recognition for it. Highly, highly recommended!

Killer Bong - Osaka Dub [2005]

Killer Bong is the moniker for a DJ from Osaka, Japan. These dubby hip-hop instrumentals have a real laid back down-tempo vibe, reminiscent of the early 90's beats from DJ Krush (also from Japan) with traces of dark ambient grooves. Highly recommended!

First day back in the office after the life changing events of the last couple of weeks...it was not easy coming in

.......

This is a very moody and smooth Sun Ra album. I have read some negative criticism that this is "watered down" Sun Ra, but I don't agree with that assumption. It's just more laid back and mellow than some of his other albums and very dreamy in a way. A very nice space ride indeed and definitely recommended, especially for those who need or would like a gentle introduction to the great man.

Here are some notes about the album and the differences between the acetate and LP recordings:

"According to Rick Barry of Philly Jazz, Sun Ra requested that Omoe's name be listed as "Ego Omoe" on the jacket. Dale Williams says that Disco Kid's first name was Greg; Disco Kid was responsible for the "straight" guitar playing, while Williams handled the wa-wa and other effects. A test pressing for this LP was recently discovered by Gilbert Hsiao. The matrix numbers are PJ1006A/B, and the date incised in the vinyl is 9/14/78. Two tracks are somewhat different on the test pressing. "Twin Stars of Thense" has another 10 seconds of guitar introduction with horns. "That's How I Feel" contains another four minutes of music beyond the issued version, which fades after Ra's solo -- there is a baritone sax solo, perhaps by Danny Ray Thompson, and a return of the head. According to Armin Büttner and Peter Roberts, "When Pathways Meet" was re-released in 1994 on Swiss Luv'n'Haight LH-010, a 12" 33-rpm maxi single. A track by Viva Brazil is on the other side. The same Ra track also appeared on a sampler LP/CD on the same label titled Brotherhood, LHLP/LHCD-018. From The Earthly Recordings 2nd ed. Mick Karn - Titles [1982]

It was a very sad day when we lost Mick Karn to cancer last year, and thus the music world lost one of the most distinctive and creative multi-instrumentalists/bass players. As Japan announced their split in 1982, Mick released his first solo album Titles to little fanfare. I don't know why because it is an excellent album, showcasing Karn's super-creative compositional style and bass playing abilities. Highly highly recommended!

The Flaming Lips - At War With The Mystics (Instrumental Version) [2006]

The baby finally fell asleep so I thought I'd take this opportunity to sneak in a little blogging...

I love instrumental versions of albums, for me it's almost like listening to it for the first time. That being said, I have to admit that I'm not a huge fan of this album, or much of the output from the Lips post-Yoshimi. Though their album artwork is always consistent and this one in particular I really dig. Anyway, there certainly are moments on this album where their brilliance shines through, like on the syrupy sweet closing track Goin' On for example, and on the rocker The W.A.N.D. (The Will Always Negates Defeat) both of which are really great tunes and listening to the instrumental versions gave them a whole new dimension for me. It's an interesting trip, I definitely recommend giving it a try!

Apologies for the lack of new posts lately, there are a bunch of reasons why but the main ones are:

1. my wife is about to give birth to our first child any day, any hour (!) now so I've been distracted,

and 2. I haven't been at work for the better part of the last week so I haven't been able to take advantage of the super fast upload speeds from my work machine. For some reason I cannot upload anything onto Mediafire with the service I have at home. It's pathetic. So anyway, I just re-watched a couple of these "pinky violence" films that star Ike Reiko and it got me in the mood to pull out her album for a listen, and since I can't upload anything new for you, I thought I'd re-post this gem of japanese erotic pop. If you haven't ever seen any of the films from this genre, do yourself a favor and pick up the excellent box set which contains four films and this album from Ike Reiko as well.

Ike Reiko rose to fame in early 1970's Japan in the action/erotic film genre called "pinky violence" films. She also ventured into music and released this album of japanese pop songs in 1971. It's very 60's loungy, and has a lot of guttural moans and groans and heavy whispers of sexual ecstasy. Kind of reminds me of a whacked out japanese Gainsbourg record. As you can tell by the awesome cover art, she was also a very beautiful woman... highly recommended!

J. Spaceman & Sun City Girls - Mister Lonely (Music From A Film By Harmony Korine) [2008]

Another outstanding soundtrack album from a Harmony Korine film. The 20 short tracks here alternate between J. Spaceman and Sun City Girls, there aren't any collaborations unfortunately. I have not seen this film but it sounds interesting. From IMDB: "In Paris, a young American who works as a Michael Jackson lookalike meets Marilyn Monroe, who invites him to her commune in Scotland, where she lives with Charlie Chaplin and her daughter, Shirley Temple".

La! NEU? - Düsseldorf (1996)

After Neu! disbanded, the great drummer Klaus Dinger (RIP) formed La Düsseldorf and they put out three albums between 1976 - 80 (you can find the amazing self titled album from 1976 HERE). In the early 90's Dinger was signed by the Japanese label Captain Trip Records and he started releasing albums under the moniker La! NEU? which was also used as an umbrella name for different projects from Dinger's friends. La! NEU? released a number of studio and live albums throughout the mid-90's and they are all quite good. I found their outstanding first album Düsseldorf at the very cool blog Feeding Dirt to the Short Bus. As you would expect, the drumming and percussion are upfront in the mix and superb. If you're a fan of Neu! or a fan of kraut rock in general, I highly, highly recommended listening to this album.

Lil B – Rain in England [2010]

In case you missed one of the most bizarre albums of 2010, here it is for you. The super prolific, Berkeley CA bred rapper Lil B released this stream of consciousness rap trip over lilting, new-agey-ambient synth melodies- there are no beats on this album whatsoever - and it sounds as if he could be rapping over a Tangerine Dream album from the mid 70's. It is truly one of the weirdest sonic combinations I have ever heard. Definitely check this one out!

OSHIRI PENPENZ (translated 'skelped arse') are based in the Kansai area of Japan, (the region around Osaka and Kyoto) and are part of the burgeoning "Skum Rock" scene of underground music in Japan. I was pleasantly surprised at how listenable this album is, after seeing some of their crazy noisy live videos on you tube. It's got a great no-wave, lo-fi sound with a kind of demented Beefheart vibe as well. Fans of early Boredoms and Afrirampo will definitely dig this. A good friend of mine just caught their live show in Tokyo last weekend, his comments are below. Definitely recommended for all jap-rock heads!

"We saw The Incapacitants (20-25 minutes of seriously loud noise, no song in sight) open for Oshiri Penzpenz. The club was basically living room size, there were maybe 80 people there. Before OP started the singer came out into the crowd, slamming a chu-hi (a vodka soft drink) and proceeded to throw up twice. He went back, and came out about 3 minutes later, pissed into a cup, drank half of it, then poured it on his head. The funny thing is, when they finally started, the band, and particularly Motoko, the singer, were really quite good, in a sloppy haphazard, drunken kind of way. My brother sees a lot of live music, so when he says "that was the real deal" after a show, you know you saw something special."

The fourth full-length album from sound artist/musician Tim Hecker and it's a good one. It kind of has this larger than life feel to it that is very dramatic and sort of on the dark side of ambient. Challenging at times and blissed out and soothing at others. A really great album, highly recommended!

Sula Bassana And The Nasoni Pop Art Experimental Band Vol.1 [2006]

Sula Bassana is the one-man project of super talented German musician Dave Schmidt. He's been called a pioneer of the new psych scene in Germany and Austria, and after listening to his style of modern day psychedelic-space-krautrock you can see why. In 2006, Schmidt gathered some members of bands like Liquid Visions, Weltraumstaunen and Johnson Noise to record an album that would later be released for the 10th anniversary celebration of the Berlin based Nasoni Records label. The music that arose from those jam sessions were later produced and re-worked by Schmidt to create this elaborate and stunning final product. I don't think a Volume 2 was ever released unfortunately, but this one is highly, highly recommended!

This is a japanese only release of the Who's second album "A Quick One". This box set has two complete versions of the album: a stereo version and a mono version. Disc 1 has the original mono recordings as included on the original UK version plus singles from the era and the EP "Ready Steady Who." Disc 2 includes the stereo recording in original sound plus recent remixes and remasters. In this post I am only including the mono version. Highly recommended!

Wire - 154 [1979]

The third album by the legendary Wire. I read that 154 represented the number of gigs that the band had played up until that point in time. While not nearly as good as Pink Flag and Chairs Missing (my personal favorite), it is still a great album filled with some post-punk nuggets (like the brilliant track "Map Ref. 41°N 93°W"). This particular version of 154 includes four extra tracks that were not on the original album. Definitely recommended!

Eternal Tapestry (from Portland, OR) are one of the better experimental psych bands going right now. They just released an excellent collaboration with the LA psych dudes Sun Araw that is out of this world, you can check it out here: http://www.thrilljockey.com/artists/?id=12860. This album, released as a limited edition CDR in 2007 has them in a very relaxed and controlled state, giving this a very spaced out and peaceful vibe. Highly recommended!

I don't play video games so I am unfamiliar with this game Silent Hill. But the soundtrack that Akira Yamaoka came up with for it is outstanding and at times downright frightening. It's got a dark ambient, electronic vibe with dark beats and grooves and is very very recommended! Enjoy!

My good friend Daniel Blumin who is a DJ at the very excellent radio station WFMU hipped me to this amazing compilation today. Another Room (founded by musician John Gullak) was a zine devoted to SF’s underground culture and arts, to which Greil Marcus, amongst others, was a contributor. Omniana, the companion cassette to Another Room Magazine #3, published 1985, is a compilation that consists of (mostly) experimental musicians from the Bay Area. It's a great mix of electronic, ambient and avant garde tracks that is very forward sounding for 1985. Highly highly recommended!

What we have here is a very interesting and different type of recording by C Spencer Yeh (released by De Stijl Records) that is superb. It's different in the sense that it is almost a straight-ahead (post) rocker, unlike much of his more challenging and experimental improvised music. These two songs display his songwriting talents and vocal capacity to great effect. Definitely worth checking out!

Les Rallizes Dénudés - Mars Studio [1980]

Not much can be said that hasn't already been said about the amazing and mysterious Les Rallizes Dénudés from Japan. They are quite simply, an a-class psychedelic Japanese freakout. This particular double album of studio outtakes and tracks are on the mellower side for LRD but is nothing less than BAD ASS. Kind of reminds me of very late 60's/early 70's V.U. It's a trip to hear some of the studio chatter that got captured on the playback, it's barely audible and difficult to make out what they are talking about. If you want to hear something on the heavier side of the spectrum, check out the unbelievable Heavier Than A Death In The Family album I posted last year:

Serge Gainsbourg - From St. Tropez to Paree: 1956-1960

A very interesting collection of early Gainsbourg songs that were used for the soundtracks of early films in which Brigitte Bardot appeared in between 1956-1960: Babette S'en Va-t-en Guerre, La Vèrité, L'Affaire D'une Nuit, En Effeuillant La Marguerite, and Les Bijoutiers du Clair de Lune. It's got a latin jazz groove with some cha-cha-cha vibes thrown in as well. With song titles like Sois Belle et Tais-Toi (Be beautiful But Shut Up) you get the idea that Serge was just as louche then as he was later on in life. Like when he told Whitney Houston that he wanted to fuck her on live TV (here). Anyway, this album is great stuff. Check it out!

A new offering from Toronto's Hollow Island and it's a good one. Mind expanding psychedelic drone and electronics that kick ass. These songs, created in the brutal Canadian winter were self described as "half utopia noise and half suicide techno" and includes three tracks that are remixes of "Deluxe" by Harmonia.

This double album is actually pretty damn good I have to say. Disc 1 is filled with psychedelic rockers and the 16 minute Mind Train has a real hypnotic krauty-vibe to it even. Disc 2 is more of her avant garde weird sound trips. Definitely worth checking out!

I haven't seen the film but this soundtrack is fascinating. I have no idea if it's actually Harmony Korine or not, but I am loving this. It's got that frightening freak folk quality about it similar to the way John Frusciante's "Niandra Lades" album is frightening. It's like 15 minutes long from 9 songs, try it! Recommended!

This album of folky "pop" tunes sound nothing like some of the other asian psych collections that have come out in the last couple of years. These tunes are less "straight ahead" sounding and offers a very trippy listening experience that veers into the mysterious and bizarre end of the musical spectrum. CAN — Zhengzheng Rikang [1968-1969]

I just came across this lost CAN album from the now defunct Decdoder blog and it's so great that I had to re-post if for you all. It's from the Malcolm Mooney era of the late 60's and absolutely kicks ass. It has alternative versions of classic tunes from this period (the versions of "Father Cannot Yell" and "Little Star Of Bethlehem" are outstanding) as well as some new songs. It's definitely not a bootleg as the sound quality is just too good. Maybe they were studio outtakes that somehow found the light of day? Who knows, there are no credits or record label mentioned, the only other details apart from the track listing and the fact that it was recorded 1968/69 at Schloß Nörvenich is the phrase "Die Wirtschaft gedeiht Tag für Tag" — "The economy thrives day after day".

Highly recommended!

Lockbox is the moniker for a young experimental musician from Denver, CO. I have included Lockbox in a few of my past "submission posts" and have been a fan of his Bandcamp page for a while now. He just finished a new album which he proclaims is his best work yet, and I must agree. It's 12 tracks of seamless beauty, filled with dreamy beats, some IDM-ish vibes and soothing experimental electronics, interspersed with some piano here and there as well. In his own words: "My goal with this album was to make songs that are lo-fi and dreamy, which is what I'm absolutely in love with. But I also wanted the songs to sound well produced and catchy. I wanted them to really stick in your head and have lots of details for you to notice." - I think he accomplished that goal. Enjoy!

Over the years I've been fairly obessive about finding as many lost V.U. gems and boots as I could, but I somehow overlooked this beauty. I think Lou Reed's best guitar playing took place in the 1960's and this bootleg displays my point. It was made by putting a recording device inside Lou´s amp, so what we got basically here is the sound of Lou´s incendiary leads with the rest of the group kind of lost in the background. It's a fantastic trip a must for you V.U. fans... Enjoy!

I just discovered this outstanding late 70's kraut album created by a quartet of "Berlin school mates" in 1979. According to the Aquarius Records website: "You consisted of synth mavens Udo Hanten and Albin Meskes along with guitarist Uli Weber and, on drums, under the alias Lhan Gopal for some reason, Harald Grosskopf. Grosskopf had played drums with Klaus Schulze, and was in Manuel Gottsching's Ashra band at the time." It's a seriously spaced out and blissed out cosmic experience. Highly recommended!

I'm smack dab in the middle of Tony Fletcher's outstanding biography on Keith Moon - Moon: The Life and Death of a Rock Legend. I highly recommend this for any Who fan, a great insight into the mysterious world of one the best (if not the best) rock drummers in history. Of course this got me on a Who listening jag all weekend long and I forgot how much I love this legendary band. I even watched The Kids Are Alright (again!) yesterday. Obsessed. This here is an excellent deluxe reissue of their 3rd album released in 1967. Highly recommended you geezers!
